Contingency plan vs preventive action
Is there any clause in ISO 15189 that mention about contingency plan , and what is the relationship with preventive action . Can laboratory expected to have both plan or are they the same?

They are not the same, contingency plans is reactive while preventive plan is proactive. contingency is used to address an occurrence while preventive plan is futuristic, seeking to prevent occurrence.

The ISO 15189: 2012 Clauses 4.1.1.4; 5.2; 5.3.1; 5.10 talks about having in place a laboratory contingency plan for not just testing but equipment, consumables, fire and natural disasters etc
Thank you Daron , downtime /failure of electronic LIS -paper based LIS, Assembly point -for fire occurrence , service interruption -back up lab arrangement are some of the elements to be included in contingency plan.
